Pao achieves her Olympic dream

Former EnglishINCambridge student Pao Bonilla competed in the marathon for her country Ecuador at the Tokyo Olympics. She completed the 26-mile course in a very respectable 2 hours 43 seconds. Pao said: “I dreamed it with all my being, I worked with all my strength, I fought it to the end with all my heart and I achieved it. My first Olympic Games.” Pao, who currently lectures in economics at the University of Cuenca in Ecuador, said it was a challenging race in very demanding conditions, but she said, “I am proud to have finished one of the toughest competitions of my entire life.” She received many messages of congratulations from her former classmates from her time in Cambridge. “The best time of my life was in Cambridge,” she said.
